St.
John’s is the only state-designated adult and pediatric Level l Trauma
Center in the Ozarks.
A Level l Trauma Center is the highest designation a hospital can receive as
a trauma care provider in Missouri.
As a Level l Trauma Center, St. John's
provides:
¢ Board-certified trauma surgeons at the
hospital available to care for patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
¢ Dedicated operating rooms immediately
available and staffed 24 hours a day ready to perform trauma surgery at a
moment’s notice.
¢ State-of-the art radiology equipment in the
Emergency Trauma Center, including a CT scanner, digital X-ray imaging, as
well as on-site MRI.
¢ Ongoing research with other trauma centers
nationwide to ensure the care being delivered to trauma patients is the most
up-to-date trauma care available.
¢ Resources for restoring useful life skills
through education and therapy at our inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation.
¢ Safety education programs to the community
in an attempt to reduce the incidence of injuries in the Ozarks.
With
three full-time hospital-based injury
prevention coordinators, St. John’s Trauma Services is a leader
in injury prevention in Missouri. St. John’s/Kohl's Injury Prevention
Program is committed to injury
prevention education to decrease the amount of injuries to the people in
southwest Missouri and northwest Arkansas. St. John's is the proud leader of
Safe Kids Springfield.
Injury prevention
staff travel to area
schools, public events and other venues to provide education on topics such
as bicycle safety, burn and fire safety, child passenger safety, ATV safety,
home safety and motor vehicle/driving safety. Drunken-driving docudramas and
mock car crashes are included in the curriculum.
